Facilities - Department Of Computer Applications

The Department of Computer Applications was established in the year 2008 a separate block. The Department makes every effort to enrich and enhance the knowledge of students through value based education. Since its inception, the department has progressed with a vision and strong commitment to the development of quality IT professionals. It has qualified staff, well equipped class room and full furnished lab.

Computer Lab

Our Department has an excellent Computer Lab equipped with latest configuration and recent software .Latest software available are Oracle 10G, Developer 2000, Adobe Photoshop, Flash 5, Visual C++, .Net, Visual Basic, Java, CORBA, WebLogic, Eclipse, Testing Tools, SPSS, POM, JBOSS, NetBeans etc.

Our computer laboratories have a total of 90+2(server) systems with latest configurations (Such as Android).

Major operating systems are SCO-UNIX, Windows-NT, Windows-XP and Windows 2000.

All the systems are connected through LAN. The Department is also equipped with an Internet connectivity of 16 MBPS bandwidth to facilitate the faculty and student community for their education and research needs.

Activities

Staff members have attended various Seminar, FDP, Conferences and Workshop.
We encourage the students to participate in all the inter collegiate competitions.
Personality Development Programs are being conducted for the students to develop their personality.
Industrial visits are arranged for the students to understand the activities of the industries.
Seminars are arranged for the students by inviting the Chief Guest.
Have Conducted Conferences and Symposium.
Placement Program is conducted regularly for the students to be placed in IT Company.

Industrial Visits

Industrial visits to leading organizations are arranged at periodic intervals. This enables the students to bridge the gap between theory & practical. Some of the Industries visited by our students are:

8^th Graduation Day

The Eight Graduation Day of Sakthi Mariamman Engineering College was held at Dr MGR Auditorium on 18-04-2013. Mr.K.N.Ramachandran Founder and Chairman of the college gave the presidential address.

Dr. K ROSAIAH, His Excellency Governer of Tamilnadu , awarded 407 degree certificates to the Graduates of the college.

Dr. S Ramakrishanan, Principal of the college welcomed the gathering, Prof. D Lakshmi, HoD-ECE, SMEC proposed the vote of thanks.

Guest Lecture on "LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION"

Guest Lecture on "LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION" was delivered by Ms. J Dharani, Member in Education & Research, Infosys Limited on 05-04-2013 for 3^rd Year Students, which is part of INFOSYS CAMPUS CONNECT program.

Guest Lecture on "Road Safety and Fuel Efficient Driving"

Guest Lecture on "Road Safety and Fuel Efficient Driving" was delivered by Mr. M.S. Ram Prasad, Deputy Director, Institute of Road Transport on 26-02-2013 for motivating and gaining knowledge to Mechanical and Automobile students, which is organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Grand opening of AMMA aavin Parlour on 25-02-2013

A Venture initiated by Entrepreneurship Development Cell, SMEC. As part of commemorate the Birthday of Hon'ble Chief Minister Puratchi Thalaivi AMMA and special initiative for motivating students in Entrepreneurship Development activity AMMA Aavin Parlour was inaugurated on 25^th February, 2013, at our College Premises by Thiru.
