8th Graduation Day

The Eight Graduation Day of Sakthi Mariamman Engineering College was held at Dr MGR Auditorium on 18-04-2013. Mr.K.N.Ramachandran Founder and Chairman of the college gave the presidential address.

Dr. K ROSAIAH, His Excellency Governer of Tamilnadu , awarded 407 degree certificates to the Graduates of the college.

Dr. S Ramakrishanan, Principal of the college welcomed the gathering, Prof. D Lakshmi, HoD-ECE, SMEC proposed the vote of thanks.

Guest Lecture on "LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION"

Guest Lecture on "LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION" was delivered by Ms. J Dharani, Member in Education & Research, Infosys Limited on 05-04-2013 for 3rd Year Students, which is part of INFOSYS CAMPUS CONNECT program.

Guest Lecture on "Road Safety and Fuel Efficient Driving"

Guest Lecture on "Road Safety and Fuel Efficient Driving" was delivered by Mr. M.S. Ram Prasad, Deputy Director, Institute of Road Transport on 26-02-2013 for motivating and gaining knowledge to Mechanical and Automobile students, which is organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Dr.R.Subburaj, HOD (MECH) has given welcome address and introduction about Chief Guest following that, our Chairman Thiru K.N. Ranachandram has given a presidential address and he spoke about the scarcity of fuel in the world. Dr.S.Ramakrishnan, Principal has given valuable advices to the students. Mr.M.S.Ram Prasad, Deputy Director has given inaugural address and he has given lecture on "Road Safety and Fuel Efficient Driving" and topics covered safety system, Functions of a Automobile Components, Fuel injection system and maintenance procedure.

Thiru R.Rajasekaran, vice-chairman. Mr.R. Arun Kumaran, Vice-chairman, Administration, Dr.S.Ramakrishnan, Principal, Thiru N.Natrajan, honorary secretary and all HOD's, Faculties and students were also present on the occasion.

Grand opening of AMMA aavin Parlour

A Venture initiated by Entrepreneurship Development Cell, SMEC. As part of commemorate the Birthday of Hon'ble Chief Minister Puratchi Thalaivi AMMA and special initiative for motivating students in Entrepreneurship Development activity AMMA Aavin Parlour was inaugurated on 25th February, 2013, at our College Premises by Thiru. P Tamil Selvan, Deputy General Manager (Mkg), Tamil Nadu Co-Operative Milk Producer's Federation Ltd.

Workshop on Microsoft Imagine Cup 2013

MICROSOFT INNOVATION CENTER of SAKTHI MARIAMMAN ENGINEERING COLLEGE has organized a one day "WORKSHOP ON MICROSOFT IMAGINE CUP 2013" on Thursday,24th January 2013,at 10.00 a.m in Pennycuick auditorium.Thiru K.N.Ramachandran, the Founder & Chairman of the college has inaugurated the Workshop. Mr.TEJAS SHAH Runner-Up of MICROSOFT IMAGINE CUP 2004 has taken over the workshop and shared the success footprints and the greater ideas of the real time education ,health care projects to the students. He has communally taken over the innovative thoughts of the students towards the aspiration.

Mr.R.Rajsekaran the vice-chairman, Dr.S.Ramakrishnan the principal, Mr.N.Natarajan Hony'Secretary of the college and Mr. Prasad the Director of ADS Soft tech, Hydrabed has participated in the workshop.Prof.G.Elangovan, Head of CSE Dept and Prof.S.Umarani Head of MCA Dept co-ordinates the Workshop.

Guinness Record

14 students and 2 Professors of our college secured a place in the GUINNESS BOOK of RECORDS for being part of the 18-hour Microsoft Windows8 App Development marathon. The record was acquired in the event held in Windows8 Appfest at Karnataka Trade Promotion Organization, in Bangalore, on September 21st and 22nd.

Guinness Vice-President Paul O'Neil inaugurated the event, while Microsoft India Chairman Bhaskar Pramanik rang a bell to start the marathon programme. 2567 developers had completed developing the applications before the scheduled time. Our students developed 5 Applications, in which 2 Apps got prize, and other Apps are in microsfot stores.

7th Graduation Day

The Seventh Graduation Day of Sakthi Mariamman Engineering College was held at college premises on 28-04-2012. Mr.K.N.Ramachandran Chairman of the college gave the presidential address. In his speech he advised the graduates to find out solutions to rectify the problem of scarcity of electricity. He stressed that their invention is to set right the issue for ever.

Thiru.V.Palaniappan, Minister for Higher Education Government of Tamil Nadu stated that, he feels a sense of belonging in attending the graduation day function. People should learn to respect mother, then wife. K.N.R respects his wife and has set an example for others to follow. He said that after being born from simple background, he has risen to height of a minister. He said that people have, in his time, seen engineers with awe. Today he felt privileged to address a galaxy of engineers.

Electricity is an important discovery of mankind. Non conventional energy is very much required in today's world. Such energy is being encouraged to be developed by Tamil Nadu government. He was pleased to note that the students of SMEC have developed non conventional energy sources. Tamil Nadu Government is interested in furthering the reach of higher education. 13% of Indians have access to Higher Education. In Tamil Nadu it is 18%. World average is 23%. Average in developed countries is 54%. Gender equality is a must in Higher Education. Vision 2023 aims at prosperity to Tamil Nadu. Our Honorable Chief Minister has a dream for 2023 and has already chartered a plan. Laptop scheme is an inclusive plan announced by Honorable Chief Minister. Graduates should learn to give respects to teachers, alma mater, parents, state and country as per Tamil Culture.

Finally he awarded 3 gold medals University Rank Holders and 504 degree certificates to the students of the college.

Dr.K.Vijaya Bhaskar Raju Principal of the college welcomed the gathering, Dr.H.Ranganathan Vice-Principal of the college proposed the vote of thanks.

11th Annual Day

Sakthi Mariamman Engineering College, Celebrates its 11th Annual Day & Sprots Day in the College Campus on 21-04-2012 in a grand manner.

Mr.N.C.Krishnan, Chairman St. Thomas Mount panchayat union in his felicitation address described the locality of the college in Kanchi District as an historically famous place, quoting the visit of ancient Chinese yuvan suwang. They are amazed by the development of kanchi even at that time. The nearer Sriperumbudur is also famous for the birth place of Ramanujar. Finally he wished the college to attain autonomous power at the earliest.

Mr.Kanchi Panner Selvam, Chairman District panchayat in his speech claims many of the students are able to afford the technical education due to the policies of Tamil Nadu Government. Nowadays there are improvement exams within short span of time after 12th result.

Chief guest Mr.T.K.M.Chinnaiyya in his speech said that he is overwhelmed to be present in the function as a family function. Annual Day is an important occasion in any student's life. As a minister for animal husbandry he said that the present Government provides a lot of facilities for dialyses and other treatments for animals in Tamil Nadu. Our Chief Minister has announced many schemes for the improvement of sports in the state.

Mr.K.N.Ramachandran Founder and Chairman welcomed the gathering and informed about the innovative projects for the present crises in the electricity. Dr.K.Vijaya Bhaskar Raju Principal read out the annual report.

Department of Information Technology was conducted a National Level Technical Symposium INAYA THAGAVAL KALAM 2012 on 02-03-2012, and it was inagurated by Dr. S. Chandra Mohan, Director, AU-RU Energy Centre, Anna University .

AIKYA 2012

The Management Studies department and Computer Applications department of Sakthi Mariamman Engineering College, organised a national level symposium 'AIKYA 12' on 24-02-2012.

J Sabita, Associate Vice President-HR, Steria Limited, had inaugurated the symposium and talked about developing positive attitude and in-depth knowledge in particular subjects in students. She said, "Students should adapt to the changes to survive in the competitive world. They should have the habit of reading newspapers daily".

MARDIGRAZ 2K12

MARDIGRAZ 2K12, a national level technical symposium, was organized by the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of Sakthi Mariamman Engineering college on the college premises at Thandalam on Tuesday 07-02-2012. More than 200 students from various colleges participated in the symposium. This year more than 75 technical papers were received and of these, 12 were selected for presentation. Fun events at the symposium included the technical quiz, ad zap and circuit debugging.

The first three winners in each event were awarded prizes. The event was inaugurated by P. Senthil Kumar, Manager (HR), American Megatrends India Private Limited. He stressed the need for students to keep their knowledge up to date to stay ahead.
